Lovett Court, Worthing

Lovett Court is situated on the green in the middle of Maybridge Square in Goring.

The sheltered scheme was opened in 1987 and is named after Lance-Corporal Christopher Lovett, a local young man who lost his life serving in the Falklands conflict.

The scheme consists of thirty two flats and has the benefit of two communal lounges where residents meet and social events are held. There is an attractive sheltered garden where residents can sit and enjoy the sun or they can use their gardening skills if they wish. A pretty guest room is available if relatives wish to stay overnight.

The scheme also benefits from a laundry room equipped with washing machines and tumble driers for residents’ use, and a walk in shower for those residents who find it difficult to use their bath.

The Scheme Manager encourages residents to organise and arrange social events for themselves and various informal gatherings take place within the scheme such as monthly coffee mornings, bingo, quizzes and the occasional outing. The mobile library visits once a month to keep avid readers supplied!

There is a Post Office and small parade of shops about 10 minutes walk away in Palatine Road. There is also a larger parade of shops and Post Office in The Strand. The local newsagents and pharmacies all deliver to the scheme and buses run regularly to The Strand, Worthing and to Tesco’s.

The Scheme Manager is there to provide support on a daily basis if required, to enable residents to live a fulfilled independent life.
