After many months of training Team RIVI – Roger Geere, Ian Reed, Vic Horswell and Ian Wright – finally got to take on the Snowdonia challenge on Saturday 6 July.
The day started off overcast but cleared in the afternoon to some sunshine which helped the guys complete the course in 7hrs 55 mins, just five minutes under their own target time of eight hours!
Vic Horswell said: “The course was understandably tough in places, especially the first 20 mile cycle and the climb up Snowdon (Rhyd Ddu Path, not much used by tourists because its tough even treacherous in places), the other two sections were a walk in the park after that.”
The team were 42nd off the start line out of 71 and finished about 18 or 19th (we are waiting for the final stats to come through). They were also the 2nd oldest team to have entered in the 13 years the event has run, and on the day there was only one team older and that was only by four years.
Team RIVI are also thrilled to have exceeded their initial sponsorship target by an extra £1,000, giving them a total of £3,000.
Congratulations guys we knew you could do it !
