Super homes

We are proud to announce that two ‘Relish’ homes have been awarded ‘SuperHome’ status by The Sustainable Energy Academy.

The Sustainable Energy Academy is the architect of the SuperHome Campaign. The charity’s aim is to build a network of SuperHomes that are local with at least one eco-home accessible, within 15 minutes, to everyone in the country. They plan to grow the network to 500 homes within five years.

SuperHomes Network

The SuperHomes Network harnesses the enthusiasm of energy saving pioneers to bring examples of successful sustainable refurbishment to the widest possible audience.

The SuperHomes campaign has already opened the doors to over 100 exemplar older dwellings which have been made energy efficient. To qualify as a SuperHome, a 60% reduction in carbon emissions must be achieved.

How Relish™ qualified

In the Relish™ phase 1 pilot, we showed a carbon emission reduction of 64% from 1990 levels.

What’s more, one of our ‘Relish refurbed’ households made the most of their energy advice and shaved £367 off their annual energy bill. If you also take into account that energy use is rising by 12% year on year, (which for this family would have meant £151), this brings their total saving to £518!

What this means for Relish™

Dozens of SuperHomes are open to the public on SuperHomes days in March and September. Our Relish™ show flat, which doubles as a community hub will be available for visitors to come along and see how to ‘Relish’ their own homes.
