Spooky, sunny fun days

On Thursday 25 October, during the half term we held two small fun days to bring communities together, and were delighted to be joined by 90 residents (combined) at these events.

In the east area we held an event in West Brook Way, Southwick at which we had activities including tattoos, lantern making and cake decorating. We also had an operational fire engine for the children to learn about thanks to Shoreham Fire Service, who were also there to give out fire safety advice. Southern Water were also on hand to help people learn the different ways in which they can help save water and in turn lower their water bills. The event also provided an opportunity to get residents involved in planting bulbs around the area so that in spring the area is swathed in colour.

Over in the west at Felpham community Hall our team put on a fun day for our residents of Felpham, Wick and Littlehampton.

They had mask and lantern making as well as face painting. A magician and balloon modeler entertained the younger children; whilst Albion in the Community were on hand in the outdoor cage to practice football skills with the older children.

Suzanne Newman, marketing and PR officer said: “Our work isn’t just about housing people but helping them to increase their life chances, whilst also tackling the blight that is social isolation. Although we hold our annual fun day for all by holding smaller community events like these it gives us an opportunity to focus on specific neighbourhoods giving them one to one time with our teams.”
