When Worthing Homes purchased Cambourne, Dene and Glyndebourne Court from another registered provider in 2011, we used the opportunity while undertaking some much needed refurbishment works to apply our multi award winning ‘Relish™’ principles to these homes.
Relish™ demonstrates the benefits of a sensible and cost effective approach to retrofitting within occupied homes, alongside an engagement programme where residents work with their landlord to reduce energy use.
As part of our resident engagement on phase 2 to the above sites, we are holding monthly prize draws for those residents that have signed up to the Relish™ challenge.
We had great pleasure in announcing Mr and Mrs Steggell as winners of the first prize draw held last week. Alex Bulloch, the Relish™ energy consultant, was on hand to present the prize of £50 high street gift vouchers to the winning couple and Suzanne Newman, marketing and communications co-ordinator, took the opportunity to find out why they were so keen to take up the Relish™ challenge.
The Steggles said: “With all the work being done to our home and the property in general we wanted to see how good the works were and how much difference it would make following the Relish™ tips. We used to have storage heaters which weren’t very efficient and some didn’t work at all, now that central heating has been put in we have really noticed a difference. The heating is far more efficient so we don’t need to use it as much and the boiler is really quiet.” They also went on to say “we have always tried to be careful anyway but still had to make some minor changes to ensure we were getting the best out of the project. It was such a lovely surprise to find out we were the prize draw winners. You don’t expect to save money and get rewarded for doing it.”
