Following on from the successful regeneration project at Littlehampton Road, Worthing and the award winning one in Meadow Road, Worthing, we are now undertaking a new project in Tarring.
Church House, based in a little close next to St Andrews Church in Tarring, was built in the mid 60’s and has 19 studio flats and one 3 bedroom house on an intermediate (private) rent basis.
Due to the age of the property there are a number of significant repairs to be undertaken and the layout has become outdated and substandard with residents having to share bath / shower facilities and the kitchen facilities in each studio being no more than a Baby Belling, sink and small fridge. Despite various investigations it has now become apparent that works to the block would not be value for money as at the end of the process there would still be substandard housing which is not something we wish to provide.
So starting in spring 2018 we will be demolishing the existing blocks, which sadly includes an old stable block that we had hoped to save but is beyond repair, and building 15 new social housing homes, a mixture of 1, 2 and 3 bed houses and flats for local families who are on the councils housing list.
We will keep you updated as we travel through this regeneration journey.
