RedAssure pioneers telecare standard

Worthing homes telecare team – RedAssure – or perhaps we should call them the ‘Red Adairs’ of home based support – have pulled off an amazing first for the industry.

Telecare is a service that enables people, especially older and vulnerable people, to live independently in their own home. And the Telecare Services Association works closely with government to oversee standards and strategy. So when the TSA asked Red Assure to help develop a new code of practice and be ready for an audit in just four months, what did they say? Well yes, of course.

Linda Beldam explains: “We have always had strong procedures and are really customer focused, so although we knew that this might be quite a lot of work, we were confident we could pull it off. And part of it was about getting accreditation for all the good work we have already done.”

As an Investor in People, Worthing Homes already has a reputation for empowering its personnel and when RedAssure piloted the TSA’s new code of practice the teamwork and commitment paid off. RedAssure are now the only organisation in the Country that has passed an audit at this level.

Linda Beldam again: “It’s not really about being first, but we are of course, delighted to be leading the way. Our service is all about caring for people and we are passionate that vulnerable people, whether they are temporarily housebound or permanently affected, are cared for properly. We get a buzz out of bringing independence and confidence back into people’s lives because we can really see the difference that it makes.”

Worthing Homes also champions the ‘positive about disabled people’ initiative and supports a resource centre offering training and advice, as well as social events for the community.
