Work has now started on a redevelopment and a new development for Worthing Homes.
63 Grafton Road will see a building of special local interest, which has been empty for approximately five years, adapted to provide a 3 bedroom maisonette with garden, a 2 bedroom flat with garden along with two 1 bedroom flats all for affordable rent.
Meanwhile the land at 71 Chesswood Road will make way for two 2 bed and two 3 bed family homes all with gardens, also for affordable rent.
These properties are prime examples of empty homes being bought back into use to help with the existing housing shortage. Worthing Homes also recognise the need to provide a mix of family homes along with smaller properties for those that need them.
Both schemes are due to complete in April 2014.
We are also pleased to announce that working in partnership with Bloor Homes we have 26 of the 38 homes on the new development to the east of Northbrook College in Worthing.
The scheme will provide 38 news homes in total with Worthing Homes 26 properties being of mixed tenure as follows four houses, 21 flats, plus a wheelchair adapted house all at affordable rents.
Along with the much needed new homes there are plans to build a care lodge for St Barnabas hospice which will be managed by Guild Care, along with a showroom for Caffyns.
The development is due to complete in December 2014.
