Parklife win funding

The Parklife Community Action Group in Durrington have finally seen all their hard work pay off.

It’s such fantastic news. This community led group have worked so hard to secure funding for their local park, and have shown just what can be achieved with a little help and a lot of determination. We hope that this achievement will encourage and inspire other communities to work together and make a difference. Nicky Fiondella, housing manager

The group have been awarded £50,000 by the Big Lottery Fund, with a further £38,824 from Viridor credits to refurbish the play area to the rear of Chiltern Crescent and Cotswold Road.

Since last summer the Parklife group, headed up by residents Carla Harvey and Mo Barber, have been putting together bids with the help of Worthing Homes to secure funding for a variety of play equipment so that the park is accessible to everyone, and provides a fun secure environment for children of all ages to play in.

The plans for the park include swings including a basket swing, slide, climbing frame, and roundabout, with a section of the park becoming a skate area. To see for yourself, please download the [media_embed id=2545].

The works to the park will take place later on this year, with a grand opening planned upon completion.
