The 22 April marked the start of a new chapter in the life of our in-house team – Homespace, when our new decorating team started.
Following a detailed review and working closely with our residents we wanted to bring the external decoration of our homes in-house. Our recruitment drive is complete and we have employed 12 new people, taking the existing Homespace team from 10 to 22. These 12 new positions comprise eight full time staff, two seasonal staff and two new apprenticeship positions.
In line with our company ethos, the new team come from the West Sussex coastal area, with a diverse range of ages. The youngest being 20 and the oldest in his 60’s; between them they have over 150 years’ experience in the painting and decorating industry.
Robin Roberts, property services director, said: “Bringing the external decorations in-house has given us the opportunity to improve the service to our customers, create new jobs in the Sussex area as well as giving two young people the opportunity to learn and master a trade which they will have for life.”
Once their training is complete, including on the new cherry picker to help them reach some of the dizzy heights required, they will be starting to paint on 28 April.
