Following national Bike week which took place 10 – 18 June, a group of our colleagues decided they wanted to go the extra mile….or 1000 to not only help the planet but also Worthing Churches Homelessness Projects.
They set themselves a challenge of doing 1000 miles in four weeks with Worthing Homes sponsoring them 50p a mile. There was no limit to the number of people that could or couldn’t take part so the founders, Clive Cavanagh – community development manager and Andy Wyatt – procurement coordinator, had left themselves open to an awful lot of cycling if they weren’t joined by many others!
As it turned out they had 17 colleagues commuting to work by bike as well as cycling to any offsite meetings, so they were close to their target by week 3!
We had great pleasure in handing over the cheque for £500 to Sue Stevens, PR and fundraising manager from WCHP last week…and our cyclists look forward to their next challenge!
