Fun in the sun

The weather was beautiful for a record turnout of 570 people who attended this year’s funday, making it the most successful so far!

Held at the Maybridge Keystone club, this annual event is organised and run by Worthing Homes but not limited to our residents, with 142 people attending from the wider community.

Along with the usual activities such as face painting, temporary tattoos, Hoopla, hand massage and the coconut shy we had a bouncy castle, soft play area, giant Jenga and welly throwing. Whilst Jaws n Claws provided some educational fun with the stars of their company.

Pete Ridge and his band entertained us with music throughout the day and the lovely ladies from Nefertiri belly dancing showed us their moves and gave the crowds an opportunity to take part in a dance lesson. Meanwhile Mark and his team from The Empty Plate café did an amazing job of catering for the large number of people in attendance.

The day also played host to a number of other organisations who are based in and around Worthing such as the Wellbeing Hub, Southern Water, ESTEEM (young people’s services), Warming Worthing (knitting group), West Sussex County Council recycling trailer, Durrington community cycle project and Tarring Neighbourhood Watch (bike marking).

Clive Cavanagh, community development manager said: “What an amazing day, the weather was glorious and the turnout was amazing. The opportunity to put on events like these and have fun with the community is what makes our job so worthwhile.”
