Fun fun fun

Saturday 2 August saw us hold our annual funday at the Maybridge Keystone club. Chris Polden, chair of Worthing Homes board opened the event and then presented Alfie Parker, local resident, with a cheque for sponsorship he has been awarded from the Worth Fund a new initiative we are launching on 1 November 2014.

As usual there was something for everyone at the event. Inside there was a ‘strike a light’ co-ordination game, a pampering area, the artzone where young people could win tickets to see a show courtesy of Worthing Theatres, along with demonstrations from Dance Infinity Sussex, a Taekwondo team and cheerleading by the Worthing Panthers Allstar team.

Outside we had an inflatable assault course, a coconut shy, pin the tail on the piggy, friendship bracelet making and the usual favourites face painting and temporary tattoos. Live music was provided by Jenna Hall and a BBQ got everyones tastebuds going.

This year we also had many other organisations involved which included WSCC recycling team, the Girl Guides, Queen Alexandra Hospital Home, Adur and Worthing Wellbeing Hub, West Sussex Credit Union, the fire brigade and not forgetting our very own Community House team and RedAssure team. Ruth Pollard, resident involvement coordinator, said: “I am delighted with this years fun day, there was great teamwork from staff and resident volunteers. Everyone who attended enjoyed themselves and all of the activities were busy with people taking part and trying out their skills. We have received many compliments on the day and this is reflected in the feedback forms.”

We would like to thank everyone who helped to make this a memorable day, including the resident volunteers who gave up their time to attend meetings and help out, the groups who provided entertainment and demonstrations and finally special thanks to those companies that donated prizes for the event.
