From a dream…

On Saturday 14 April nearly three years of hard work came to an end when the Parklife community action group hosted an event to officially open the new skate and play facilities at Blue Park in Durrington.

Working closely with Worthing Homes the group have spent the last few years applying for funding, planning, consulting with residents in the area, and attending countless meetings about the project.

The ladies of the Parklife community action group have made the dream of improved facilities for the young people of this community a reality. The refurbishment of the park and skate area shows what a community can achieve if they work together. Ruth Crack, resident involvement co-ordinator

Having secured the majority of the funding from The Big Lottery, the Youth Opportunity fund, and Viridor credits, Worthing Homes contributed the final monies needed to ensure the park would happen.

The launch event was attended by over 150 local residents who, along with enjoying the new facilities got the chance to make badges, have faces painted, play some basketball with Worthing Storm, and take part in football sessions courtesy of Albion in the community. The park was officially opened by Liam Mills the Youth Mayor of Worthing.
