Cookery club assisted by Sussex Police

The community house cookery club for young people will now be able to purchase ingredients and kitchen utensils thanks to a donation of £200 from Sussex Police.

Community Engagement Sergeant for West Sussex Peter Allan and Broadwater PCSO Nicola Burstow presented the group with the cheque on Wednesday 27 March.

Project Manager Alison Edwards said: “We are delighted to receive this donation which will enable the young people to build up their skills as they work towards preparing a three course meal for volunteers and staff at The Community House.

“The sessions enable young people to learn the skills of planning, sharing, timing and measuring ingredients, as well as eating healthily.

“When they have finished cooking they enjoy nothing more than sitting round the table and eating the product of their labours whilst talking about what went well and what they plan to do next.”

Sgt Allan added: “Sussex Police is pleased to be able to assist a group whose aim is to support, educate and empower young people in a safe environment. I hope their new found skills will be of benefit to them and their families, as well as being fun and educational.”

The donation comes from the Police Property Act Fund (PPAF), made up of monies received by the police from property confiscated by order of the court and then sold.
