Worthing Homes has been helping people and the communities of West Sussex for the past 10 years. As part of their 10th birthday celebrations they have re-launched their Community grants scheme and are hoping to reach out to even more organisations.
Worthing Homes is keen to support initiatives that benefit local communities and neighbourhoods. These could include Community Education Projects; Sports Initiatives; the Arts; Youth Projects; Social Care Projects or Crime Prevention Initiatives.
So far this year three projects have been supported, they are Northbrook Brownies, Guides and Rainbows who received funding enabling them to attend this years centenary camp; Northbrook Football club were awarded a grant to purchase new football kit with their old kit being donated to a school in Africa, and finally Davisons Youth University were given funding to help with their 2009 summer school programme. The funding they received also helped to secure places for children who might otherwise not have been able to attend.
The Mayor of Worthing, Noel Atkins, attended an informal awards ceremony on the 26th November along with representatives from the three groups to help celebrate the re-launch of the scheme.
