Award winning switch?

We are pleased to announce that the Relish Smartwire™ has been short listed for two awards at the 2014 Constructing Excellence London and South East Awards.

The Relish Smartwire™ which is a master power down switch for all non-essential electrical devices in the home has been short-listed for the Innovation award and the Sustainability award.

It is based on two simple but effective ideas – the inteliplug and the hotel swipe card, and has been altered to include ‘essential’ (grey) and ‘non-essential’ (white) sockets. The non-essential sockets, together with the lights and all non-essential appliances e.g. washing machine, are connected to and operated by a master switch located by the front door so residents can turn off the power to sockets and lights as they leave home.

The Smartwire™ was fitted into 20 of the homes at our New Brunswick Drive development in Worthing back in December 2012 and results so far show that residents are achieving up to a 23% reduction in their annual electricity consumption.

The Relish™ project, which began in 2009, has previously won Constructing Excellence awards for sustainability at regional level in 2010 and 2011, and at national level in 2011.

The winners of the 2014 awards will be announced at a gala dinner on 3 July.
