On Wednesday 27 July Worthing Homes celebrated their part in the completion of phase one of Blakes Mead in Felpham.
Blakes Mead is an extremely important site for Arun District Council; Worthing Homes is delighted to have played a key role in ‘unlocking’ this site, which had previously stalled in late 2009. Through joint working with all partners this site will deliver much needed affordable housing in West Sussex. Robin Roberts, property services director
The site is particularly special to Worthing Homes as it is their largest single development, which will provide in the next two to three years over 200 affordable family homes. The development also will provide the north Bersted relief road. Worthing Homes as a successful bidder with the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) may also be one of the very first landlords to let homes under the new affordable rent programme.
At the event on Wednesday Robin Roberts was joined by Robin King, chief executive; Chris Polden, chair; Mark Swindall, board member; and Chris Pelling-Fulford, development manager from Worthing Homes; as well as Andy Elder, housing strategy and enabling manager; and Nigel Croad resources director from Arun District Council; and Paul Shorten from the HCA.
