Support at home

Help is available for residents with learning difficulties, physical or mental health problems, and the elderly.

Floating support

Floating support can be accessed by any of our residents except those in sheltered housing. This scheme helps residents with mental health issues, learning disabilities or other difficulties.

This service includes regular home visits by a support worker who will help residents achieve agreed goals related to their tenancy. These vary depending on an individuals needs and the support providers scheme, but may include:

  • helping them stay in the accommodation or live more independently;
  • advice on claiming benefits or grants and help to complete application;
  • maintaining the security of their home;
  • learning to manage day to day minor repairs and arranging for maintenance work;
  • learning to maintain their home;
  • support, mediation or intervention in neighbourhood disputes;
  • arranging for appropriate professional support;
  • liaising with Worthing Homes staff or with other support, training or employment agencies.

Support plans are regularly reviewed to ensure that our residents are getting the best and most appropriate service.

Our partners include: Southdown Housing Association, Worthing and Arun MIND and Rainer.

To apply or for more information on floating support, please contact your Neighbourhood Housing Officer or call Housing Services on 01903 703 102.

From the outset, we have supported vulnerable people at home with a 24 hour alarm service supported by a personal response in emergencies.

Over the last ten years, our range of solutions has developed and we now offer one of the highest quality services available, to a wide range of customers, from short term telecare for people who are temporarily incapacitated, to older people living alone.
