Brougham Road Complex
"The Brougham Complex" is a large "open" site with a village style atmosphere. It is at the seafront end of Brougham Road only a short bus ride from the town centre. It houses approximately one hundred and twenty six tenants in lots of separate buildings and has the benefits of two Scheme Managers at this site. There are thirteen small blocks of flats, eight small "studio" style bungalows and twenty-six one bedroomed bungalows all overlooking spacious, very attractive gardens with some lovely trees. It is only a minute from the sea!
There are a variety of shops just a short walk from the complex, a bus stop right outside, the main hospital just five minutes walk up the road.
There is a very large communal lounge overlooking the gardens where bingo, quizzes, coffee morning and many informal gatherings and parties are held. There is a committee here who arrange entertainment such as quizzes, trips outs and even fish and chips!.
There is also an attractive guest room with en-suite bathroom for visitors to use if they wish and a quiet room with a small library overlooking the gardens for tenants to use.
Chestnut Court
Chestnut Court is situated at the very bottom of Victoria Road, near the town centre. It is a modern building of 16,one bedrooms flats on three floors. It is only a stones throw from many different shops, bus routes, churches and a doctor's surgery is only a few doors away.
It is a friendly scheme with an attractive lounge with a small kitchen overlooking a pretty flowerbed. The tenants often meet for coffee in the morning and often have informal gatherings for fish and chip lunches or strawberry teas in the summer!
Clifton Court
Clifton Court is a modern attractive building situated half way down Clifton Road near the town centre. It is a large complex comprising of fifty-six one bedroomed flats in all. Flats one to thirty are sheltered flats and thirty-one upwards are non-sheltered. It has a pretty enclosed garden in the middle of the four sided building which has several well-maintained, pretty, raised flowerbeds. Its location is only a short walk to the main town centre, sea front, library, main post office and shopping centre. There are two local surgeries and several churches close by and two very local pubs.
The scheme has a large attractive lounge with a small communal kitchen where many informal gatherings are held such as Easter Bonnet competitions, coffee mornings and regular bingo. There are coach trips to local places of interest during the summer.
On the second floor there is an attractive guest room for relatives to use if they wish and a small comfortable quiet room with a balcony where tenants can sit and relax, read a book and enjoy a bit of sunshine. They could even entertain friends and family here if they wish.
A hairdresser visits once a week, a private chiropodist is available and there is a very local podiatry clinic with a free service only a short walk away
Davenport Court
Davenport Court was officially opened in 1984
It is very well situated; at the south end of Elm Grove in Goring just around the corner to a very good shopping parade, with several hairdressers, a selection of chemists, a large post office and other good food and clothes retailers. There are several doctors' surgeries close by and local transport is very good with a choice of several buses into the main shopping area of Worthing .
There are twenty-four flats of which seventeen are “studio” style and five one bedroom flats. The scheme is attractively built with a warm, homely communal lounge with fully fitted kitchen that is used for many informal gatherings. Leading from the lounge is a very pretty, well-kept, walled garden. Tenants are keen to help keep this looking good. It also has good laundry facilities, a small library that is restocked once a month and a chiropodist visits every six weeks. A pleasant guest room is on the first floor with separate bathroom for relatives to use if they wish.
Elizabeth House
Elizabeth House is situated at the very end of Pelham Road in Tarring and backs onto Rectory Road. It is a large scheme of thirty-four "studio" style flats. It is within five minutes of all amenities; shops, post office, hairdressers, chemist and a doctors' surgery.
There are two attractive communal lounges. The main one is brightly decorated with a small kitchen. It is used for many informal gatherings such as coffee mornings, bingo, raffles, clothes sales, and parties. The other smaller "quiet room" has a small library, which is regularly stocked and is often used for reading or board games. There is also an attractive guest room with separate bathroom for relatives to use if they wish. There are often trips out in the summer to such places as "Middle Farm" in Polegate and "Wiston Gardens" near Steyning.
Elizabeth House has regular visits from a hairdresser, chiropodist and dentist.
Lovett Court
Lovett Court is situated on the green in the middle of Maybridge Square in Goring. The sheltered scheme was opened in 1987 and is named after Lance-Corporal Christopher Lovett who was killed in the Falklands war.
The scheme consists of thirty two flats and has the benefit of two communal lounges where tenants meet and social events are held. There is an attractive sheltered garden where tenants can sit and enjoy the sun or can use their gardening skills if they wish. A pretty guest room is available if relatives wish to stay overnight.
The scheme also benefits from a laundry room equipped with washing machines and tumble driers for tenants' use and a walk in shower for those tenants who find it difficult to use their bath.
The Scheme Manager encourages tenants to organise and arrange social events for themselves and various informal gatherings take place within the scheme such as monthly coffee mornings, bingo, quizzes and occasional outing. The mobile library visits once a month to keep avid readers supplied!
There is a Post Office and small parade of shops about 10 minutes walk away in Palatine Road. There is also a larger parade of shops and Post Office in The Strand. The local newsagents and pharmacies all deliver to the scheme and buses run regularly to The Strand, Worthing and to Tesco's.
Attached to Lovett Court is "Lovett Retirement Club" which is run by Guildcare for older people in the community. Lovett Court tenants are entitled to automatic free membership if they wish to attend. It is open from Monday to Friday, provides cooked lunches and a variety of activities and outings. Lunch can be delivered to your flat if you are unable to attend the club.
The Scheme Manager is there to provide support on a daily basis if required, to enable tenants to live a fulfilled independent life.
Wisden Court
Wisden Court is situated towards the south end of Findon Road and is within ten minutes walk from a good parade of shops including hairdressers, post office, bakers, and supermarket. There is also a doctors' surgery there, a church and library. It has well maintained gardens-tenants are encouraged to enjoy the gardens and partake of their upkeep if they wish. Across the road, the regular bus service runs into Worthing town centre.
There are thirty-two one-bedroomed flats at Wisden Court. For those tenants who are unable to get out, a hairdresser, chiropodist and mobile library visit regularly.
There are two large attractive communal lounges. The front lounge is often used for informal gatherings such as coffee mornings, bingo, parties. It has a small kitchen and the back lounge overlooking a pretty garden, has a small library and often holds art classes. There is a well-equipped laundry room, two shower rooms and a large attractive guest room for relatives to use if they wish.
During the summer months, there are often trips out to local places of interest and at the scheme strawberry cream teas and barbeques are very popular!!
