New Home Standards

We want our properties to enhance the neighbourhoods they are in, and be homes that our residents are proud to live in.

  • We will build our new homes to nationally recognised standards, including:

Approved construction details, such as those of the National House Building Council (NHBC)

British Standards and manufacturers’ recommendations

Design and Quality Standards as required by the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA)

Energy efficient homes as defined by the Code for Sustainable Homes (currently level 3)

  • We will create neighbourhoods to standards that make them safe, attractive and sustainable:

Homes that are Secured by Design as identified by the police

Well designed homes and neighbourhoods, as defined by Building for Life

  • We will build to Worthing Homes’ design requirements which ensure:-

A variety of tenures and dwelling sizes with a mix of family types and ages, to help create a ‘balanced’ community

Developments that tend to be of a smaller, individual scale e.g. houses, smaller blocks of flats

  • When remodelling or improving existing homes we will consult with residents on design solutions

  • We will obtain feedback from our residents 1 year after moving into their new home and take these views into account in designing and specifying future projects

  • We will give residents a handbook on how to use the equipment in their new home

  • We will repair any defects in our new homes within our agreed repair targets

  • We will achieve high levels of positive customer feedback from everyone that moves into one of our new homes

*This is just one of our suite of Service Standards. Our value for money, equality and diversity and customer contact standards apply to all of our other standards.
