Lettings and tenure Standards

We understand that looking for a home can be a frustrating process, so we aim to ensure the process is as uncomplicated as possible for you. Our dedicated team can guide you through every step of the process.

  • We will work with Homemove (WBC) to deliver a quality service

  • We will ensure our procedures are easy to understand and that all Worthing Homes literature is relevant and to our ‘resident approved standard’

  • We will maintain a secure local mutual exchange register and promote the national home swap scheme.

  • We will give all new Worthing Homes residents a starter tenancy which will progress to an assured tenancy after the first year if all tenancy conditions have been met

  • We will add neighbourhood agreements and/or acceptable behaviour contracts to starter and other tenancies if deemed appropriate

  • We will arrange for you to view the property you have successfully bid for at a convenient time for you

  • When you agree to take a tenancy we will agree a tenancy start date and give you a copy of your tenancy agreement which will tell you about your tenancy rights and responsibilities, the rent and other charges for the property

  • We will offer you an on-line housing benefit check to tell you the approximate amount you have to pay if you get benefit, and help you complete a housing benefit application

  • We will provide you with an information pack about the services we provide and who to contact. We will ask you how you prefer us to communicate with you

  • We will check if you have any support needs or disabilities to ensure we can help you remain living independently in your home

  • We will arrange for your housing officer to call after you have moved in to check you have settled into your new home

  • We will ask you for feedback on your experience of the lettings service and your new home

*This is just one of our suite of Service Standards. Our value for money, equality and diversity and customer contact standards apply to all of our other standards.
