Thunder rolling over Chiltern Crescent

Members of Worthing Thunder’s Basketball team were on hand to shoot the first baskets and officially open a new basketball facility in Chiltern Crescent, Durrington on Tuesday 19 March Group playing 2008.

This will replace old equipment on the play area which is owned and maintained by Worthing Homes.

Three local young people Luke Stenning, Ezra Stenning and John Aggney worked together and made successful funding applications to theYouth Opportunity Fund and Youth Capital Fund.

Worthing Homes topped this up to enable the work to go ahead.

The idea for the changes had come about after West Sussex County Council Youth Service talked to young people last year about what they would like to see in the area. The Team and Coaches

Youth champion for Worthing, Cllr Hazel Thorpe commented:

“It is good to see residents working with organisations like Worthing Homes and the County Council to provide much needed leisure facilities for young people in Worthing.”
