Lovett Centre relaunches

Article information Published on: June 25, 2009 Updated on: November 11, 2012 Prepared by: Suzanne Newman

Worthing Homes is working in partnership with Guild Care, a provider of innovative services for older people, to relaunch the Lovett Centre on Thursday, 16 July, 2009.

We are very pleased to be working in partnership with Worthing Homes on this project. Lovett opened 23 years ago as a retirement club adjacent to Lovett Court in Maybridge Square, Goring-on-Sea and provides a valuable service to local residents both from Lovett Court and from the wider community. Jill Lancaster, Health Living services manager

This exciting initiative will include a make-over for the Lovett Centre, a day-centre adjacent to Lovett Court in Maybridge Square, Goring-on-Sea, which is used by some of the tenants and around 115 local residents. In addition the initiative will provide a landscaped patio area for service users, with paving, borders and raised flower beds. Guild Care also plans to introduce its Healthy Living Programme for older people, building on the success of the Healthy Living Centre at Methold House, North Street.

The programme will include:

  • Keeping fit and healthy classes (seated exercise, physio and tai chi).
  • Weight management and dietary advice.
  • A well person service and specialist talks.
  • Arts, crafts and song.
  • Healthy food and good company.
  • Other services and therapies accessible by Guild Care transport.
