Q. What is affordable housing?

A. Affordable housing is housing provided with a subsidy to enable the sale price or rent to be substantially lower than the prevailing market prices or rents in the locality.

Q. What is the difference between rent and intermediate rent?

A. Rent is usually housing owned and managed by a Registered Social Landlord where the rents are well below the market levels (approximately 50% lower). Usually only those who are registered with the Local Authority or a Housing Association are eligible to apply for social rented properties.
