The Community House in Dominion Road, Worthing opened in March 2007.
The house is a very special place where people can meet up informally, take part in activities or drop in for help and advice when it is needed. It is a friendly, relaxed environment where everyone is welcome and you will always be greeted with a smile! The house is run by paid staff together with volunteers (all DBS (formally CRB) checked) and offers opportunities for all ages.
The house is open to anyone and everyone. You don’t have to be a Worthing Homes resident to access the help, facilities or clubs that we offer. The diverse mix of people is what makes the house such a special place!
In 2009, The Big Lottery Fund awarded the house funding for five years. This has enabled us to expand and develop a wider range of exciting opportunities including:
- Increased access to further education, support, learning and volunteering opportunities
- Providing new diversionary activities for young people
- Developing a programme of engagement with the business sector
In 2014 we were awarded a further 5 years funding by the Big Lottery and this will enable us to take the work that the house does to new areas in which we work.
As before we have 4 outcomes to achieve which include, helping young people and the unemployed to progress into employment or further education; assisting people of all ages to increase their mental and physical health through healthy lifestyle activities; and using activities to engage young people away from truancy and anti-social behaviour.
What can we do at the Community House?
We run a variety of activities, from coffee mornings to after school activities, and help with education and training – we offer something for everyone. For more details about the many activities on offer take a look at the activities and volunteering page.
We can also offer more practical help!
If you have no credit but need to get hold of someone urgently, you are welcome to come and use our phone free of charge – just ask.
If you need some help to fill in important but long and difficult forms or would like us to help you get in touch with the right people to help with a problem, just come in and say hello or give us a call.
All of this is available five days a week.
We are usually open from 10:00AM to 17:00PM, closed for lunch between 13:00PM and 14:00PM.
Take a look at our CHTimetable April 15 leaflet for details of the activities that take place on a regular basis.
