The Community House in Dominion Road, Worthing opened in March 2007.
The house is a very special place where people can meet up informally, take part in activities or drop in for help and advice when it is needed. It is a friendly, relaxed environment where everyone is welcome and you will always be greeted with a smile! The house is run by paid staff together with volunteers (all CRB checked) and offers opportunities for all ages.
In 2009, The Big Lottery Fund awarded the house funding for 5 years. This has enabled us to expand and develop a wider range of exciting opportunities including:
- Increased access to further education, support, learning and volunteering opportunities
- Providing new diversionary activities for young people
- Developing a programme of engagement with the business sector
As part of the Big Lottery Funding we must complete 5 projects – also known as outcomes. To complete these outcomes we will carry out a series of related activities or milestones. You can find out more about these outcomes and milestones by downloading the Community House poster.
Who is the Community House for?
The Community House is open to anyone and everyone. You don't have to be a Worthing Homes resident to access the help, facilities or clubs that we offer. The diverse mix of people is what makes the house such a special place!
What can we do at the Community House?
We run a variety of activities, from coffee mornings to afterschool activities, and help with education and training – we offer something for everyone. For more details about the many activities on offer take a look at the activities and volunteering page.
We can also offer more practical help!
Is your washing machine broken or the launderette too expensive or far away? You can use the washing machine at the Community House for nothing – just bring your own detergent.
If you have no credit but need to get hold of someone urgently, you are welcome to come and use our phone free of charge – just ask.
If you need some help to fill in important but long and difficult forms or would like us to help you get in touch with the right people to help with a problem, just come in and say hello or give us a call.
All of this is available 5 days a week.
We are usually open from 10am to 5pm, closed for lunch between 1 and 2pm
