Football in the community

Regular fully-funded football sessions have been established across Sussex for after school, evenings, Saturday mornings and during the school holidays. These provide young people the opportunity to participate in regular physical exercise and learn new skills.

In addition to the football skills learned by the young people the scheme works to:

  • assist in tackling anti-social behaviour;
  • promote valuable life skills such as teamwork, respect and discipline;
  • promote community involvement;
  • highlight the dangers of smoking, drug's misuse including alcohol;
  • promote the benefits of regular exercise and healthy diet.

The project also works with young adults in target areas, by giving them the opportunity to gain accreditation on the Level 1 Certificate in Football Coaching. This in turn provides coaching employment opportunities within the Community Scheme.

All activities are free to Worthing Homes residents but most are free to all. Please see the table below for session days, times and venues:

Monday St Andrews high school, Sackville Rd, Worthing 4.50 – 5.50pm
Thursday The Rosie youth centre, Littlehampton Road 6 – 7pm Under 14's
7 – 9pm Under 16's
Friday Tarring Park 5 - 7pm Under 12's
7 – 8pm Teenagers
Saturday The Rosie youth centre, Littlehampton Road 10 – 11.30am Under 16's

 

Albion in the Communitys Cup Final Project offers a free membership scheme that allows young people who live in partner housing association accomodation the opportunity to access free football and sport sessions throughout the year.
