Grant funding for community projects

Worthing Homes supports initiatives that benefit local communities and neighbourhoods. These include education projects; sports initiatives; the Arts; youth projects; social care projects or crime prevention initiatives.

The support we offer may be financial or ‘in kind’. Financial support will be either cash or a purchase on behalf the funded organization. Support in kind might include staff time, e.g. sitting on committees and working groups; photocopying; promotion of events in public areas; provision of accommodation for meetings.

Applications for support are accepted throughout the year and will be considered by the staff consultative committee. This is made up of employees representing the various departments within the company and it meets approximately every 12 weeks.

The staff consultative committee looks at each application and makes a decision as to whether the project should be supported, and in what way. The committee aims to support projects that benefit the neighbourhoods which we serve.

Examples of projects we have supported

The Friends of Worthing Portage – a pre school learning service for disabled children and children with additional needs.

Sussex Autistic Society parent support group.

Chippingdale Cricket Club – towards the development of some practice facilities which will benefit future generations of the town.

The Beat Project – Durrington youth & Community Development programme.
